About Japan Trip Math
Travel numbers for Japan, read from official Japanese sources and shown with the date they were checked.
Why this site exists
Many of the numbers that matter for a trip to Japan (rail fares, local accommodation taxes, tax-free rules) are published first, and sometimes only, in Japanese by rail operators, municipalities and government agencies. Japan Trip Math reads those pages and turns them into calculators and tables in English.
How numbers are handled
- Every number comes from an official page: a rail operator, a municipality, a government agency or the service provider itself.
- Every number is shown with its source and the date we checked it (“Verified on”).
- If a number could not be confirmed on an official page, it is not published. The page says “not yet verified” instead, and calculators leave that item out rather than estimating it.
- We do not publish reviews, testimonials or estimated figures.
Who runs it
Japan Trip Math is run by an independent publisher based in Japan.
Corrections and contact
If you find a number that differs from the official source, we want to fix it. Contact details will be published before launch.
